It’s that time of year again where the power women of Cincinnati, otherwise known as 85 Broads, gather to celebrate another year of success. Founded and led by Margye Solomon, the Cincinnati chapter of 85 Broads is one of the fastest growing chapters in the nation.
This was their annual meet and greet where both members and guests chat while enjoying delicious appetizers prepared and served by Lori Pierce of Lulu’s for Lunch. (The Green Bean Casserole Soup was a surprise dish and astoundingly delicious!! -ed.)
As in past years, the national office of 85 Broads sent a guest speaker to share with us the bigger vision. This year, Maricella Herrera talked briefly about the power of 85 Broads and gave updates from headquarters.
It is also at this meeting that the new Leadership Team is appointed. This year was bittersweet as founder Margye, who has been President since the group’s inception, stepped down and Peggy Gruenke stepped into her place. Margye had a few words to say to everyone.
New additions to the Leadership Team for 2013 are President Peggy Gruenke, Treasurer Jody Whalen, Membership Director Shari Goldsmith, and Secretary Linda Bauer. Marjorie also presented a plaque for Volunteer of the Year to Lori Pierce for her personal support and dedication in helping to establish the Cincinnati chapter.
After the presentations, everyone was encouraged to stay and mingle and later head over to the Pub for dinner.
At 85 Broads, the open, friendly atmosphere is a reflection of the group’s commitment to inspiring women to succeed while giving back to the community and making a difference in the lives of others.
