There’s always some element of fear the first time we do things. That’s natural. What’s not natural, or at least not acceptable, is to let that fear prevent us from doing something we either want to do, or know we need to do. So the best way to get over that first-time fear of doing something, is to just do it. Fortunately, video is something you can quite easily get started doing all by yourself. Write up a simple script–your name, your company name, what your company does, and how to connect with you. Set up your camera, and press Record. No one will ever see this, so don’t worry about perfection. I can set your mind at rest. It won’t be perfect. But perfection is not the goal; JUST DOING IT is the goal. So…just do it. Over and over and over…
Thanks for the great tip! I have never done a video before and I never wanted to do one because of the fear. You are right though. The only way to conquer the fear is to practice doing it.
“The only way to conquer something is to take action.” Oh my goodness Vickie, I must get this in my head. I don’t have nervousness, I just need to take action, and eventually it’ll be like second nature. I get caught with trying to make things perfect. Thanks for the reminder that it doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be DONE!
